Aim and Scope

Note:  Frontiers of Biogeography migrated to a new publisher in 2024, and up to date information about the journal can be found at https://biogeography.pensoft.net/.  The information below dates from 2024.

Frontiers of Biogeography is the scientific journal of the International Biogeography Society.  We publish papers on the study of the geographical variations of life at all levels of organization, including studies on temporal and/or evolutionary variations in any component of biodiversity if they have a geographical perspective, as well as studies at relatively small scales if they have a spatially explicit component.  We will consider work on all taxa, marine, aquatic and terrestrial systems, and within any major branch of the subject, e.g. ecological biogeography, evolutionary biogeography, phylogeography, conservation biogeography, applied biogeography, island biogeography, functional biogeography, historical biogeography, and following a broad array of recognized schools of thought and methodologies.  Scholarly work on the teaching of biogeography at university level may also be considered (but pre-submission enquiries are recommended to ensure suitability).

We aim to be flexible on article formats, principally publishing under the headings of research articles, perspectives, reviews/syntheses and book reviews.

See Information for Authors for the types of contributions accepted and how to prepare a manuscript for submission and subsequent peer review.
