Nevada – Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Documentation of Discrimination

Abstract

With respect to employment, Nevada law has prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation since 1999.1 However, the statute also contains a broad exception to its provisions for any 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This exception applies solely to discrimination based on sexual orientation and not to any other protected class. There is no coverage in the statute for discrimination based on gender identity.
