INTRODUCTION

The American Academy of Dermatology has played, and will continue to play, a key role in the development of academic dermatology world-wide. One of the major changes in medicine today is the increasing use of the computer to access information. As one involved with an electronic global dialog of dermatologists, I was interested in the views of the current candidates for AAD President related to ongoing and future developments of the Internet for our specialty. The way we learn and practice medicine is evolving, and how the Academy choses to become involved with providing resources on the Internet will most likely have a major effect in these areas. Since those decisions are current issues, the views of the next AAD President should be of interest to us all.

With that in mind, I wrote both candidates, Roger Ceilley MD and Irwin Freedberg MD, and posed a set of eight questions asking them to give their views on the direction of the Academy in regard to the use of the Internet. Here follows the interviews and some information about each candidate.
