The core focuses on linguistic studies of how natural languages represent and express objects and relations in geographic space, and on GIS data structures. The "related topics" include selected or key papers on human spatial cognition and learning, and on human-computer interfaces. The bibliography is intended to be the first edition of a "working bibliography" of this, the topic of NCGIA Research Initiative #2.
