The B s0→J/ψK S0 branching fraction is measured in a data sample corresponding to 0.41fb -1 of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector at the LHC. This channel is sensitive to the penguin contributions affecting the sin2β measurement from B 0→J/ψK S0. The time-integrated branching fraction is measured to be B(B S0→J/ψK S0)=(1.83±0.28)×10 -5. This is the most precise measurement to date. © 2012 CERN.

Measurements of CP observables in B±→DK± and B±→Dπ± decays are presented where the D meson is reconstructed in the final states K±π∓, π±K∓, K+K−, π+π−, K±π∓π+π−, π±K∓π+π− and π+π−π+π−. This analysis uses a sample of charged B mesons from pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1. Various CP-violating effects are reported and together these measurements provide important input for the determination of the unitarity triangle angle γ. The analysis of the four-pion D decay mode is the first of its kind.

A study of the decay D0→K-π+μ+μ-is performed using data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb-1. Decay candidates with muon pairs that have an invariant mass in the range 675-875 MeV/c2are considered. This region is dominated by the ρ0and ω resonances. The branching fraction in this range is measured to beB(D0→K-π+μ+μ-)=(4.17±0.12(stat)±0.40(syst))×10-6. This is the first observation of the decay D0→K-π+μ+μ-. Its branching fraction is consistent with the value expected in the Standard Model.

A search for time-integrated CP violation in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D0→π+π−π+π− is performed using an unbinned, model-independent technique known as the energy test. This is the first application of the energy test in four-body decays. The search is performed for P-even CP asymmetries and, for the first time, is extended to probe the P-odd case. Using proton–proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 collected by the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of s=7 TeV and 8 TeV, the world's best sensitivity to CP violation in this decay is obtained. The data are found to be consistent with the hypothesis of CP symmetry with a p-value of (4.6±0.5)% in the P-even case, and marginally consistent with a p-value of (0.6±0.2)% in the P-odd case, corresponding to a significance for CP non-conservation of 2.7 standard deviations.

The production of J/ψ mesons is studied in proton-lead collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair sNN=8.16 TeV with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The double differential cross-sections of prompt and nonprompt J/ψ production are measured as a function of the J/ψ transverse momentum and rapidity in the nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass frame. Forward-to-backward ratios and nuclear modification factors are determined. The results are compared with theoretical calculations based on collinear factorisation using nuclear parton distribution functions, on the colour glass condensate or on coherent energy loss models.
