Abstract

Emerging and reemerging problems in the mathematics of disease. The study of disease is one of the oldest areas of research in mathematical biology. This lecture will review some classical and more recent results, with emphasis on influenza, and newly emergent problems connected with the rise of antibiotic resistance.
