"The Eye and the Skin" was chosen for review because the illustrations and text of this new text were available to us in raw form. We wanted to attempt an improvement on the paradigm of the book review. Without the limitation on space inherent to paper journals, it seemed that a review could also contain a large sample of the text itself. While careful comments of a reviewer help the reader to form an opinion about a work, being able to look at the text may be even more helpful. Part of this review used the authors original chapter on diskette and transferred that to HTML format for an online demonstration. Using the illustrations and text in raw form allowed us to attempt to reproduce a portion of the text.
The review was performed Robert Langdon M.D. and edited by Thomas Ray M.D., both of whom have no conflict of interest in the outcome. Chapter 41, Acne Rosacea, is reproduced in electronic form with the permission of Lippincott-Raven publishers.
I apologize to the reader for any appearance of self promotion. That was not the intent of this review.
